Quesnel Bridge

The Quesnel Bridge retaining walls were our first really major retaining walls. These were built under a general contractor for the City of Edmonton.

The unique thing about this project is that it is the largest gravity retaining wall in Alberta. There were three different engineering firms monitoring every move. This is not a very stable area, from a geological perspective. Close to the river, along a very busy highway, with residences above us.

There are three rows of 60-inch blocks making the base of this wall, and most of that is buried. Once the highway was built again after our wall went in, we were a little disappointed that some of our best work was hidden. Obviously that is necessary, and many years later it is still as straight and true as when we built it.

This wall, and our walls in Emerald Hills, were monitored by the Alberta Government Highways Department. After a few years, this product has become approved for highway construction. We are very proud to be a part of that.

We had a strict schedule for completion, and we finished on the exact day we needed to.

We wanted this project to get our company noticed, and it really has. Several large projects have come our way because of the job we did on Quesnel.
